๐ŸŽฅ Speaking German:

๐Ÿงพ Intro / Reflection

Iโ€™ll probably repeat this often, but itโ€™s true, German has been the hardest language for me. Iโ€™ve been learning it for a year and a half, but it never really stuck. No matter what app I used, I always felt like I wasnโ€™t actually using the language, just memorizing to pass tests.

Thatโ€™s why I like my ranking system. It forces practicality instead of just recall.

That said, this week still had its rough patches. I had to pause the test just to go back and relearn a few things even after studying. Feels like German is going to be the language that slows me down the most.

Still stacking passive income with beermoney apps to help me mentally power through. Itโ€™s not much, but every little bit helps. ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿ’ธ Earn While You Learn
I like to stack beermoney while I study languages, most of these apps are super low-effort and just give me a nice bonus on top of learning. Itโ€™s not job-replacement money, but it adds up, especially since Iโ€™ve become more introverted. ๐Ÿ‘‡

โœ… Bronze 2 German Test Results

โœ… Section 1: Small Talk

  • “ich bin funfundzwanzig”
โžค โœ”๏ธ Correct idea! Just a small spelling note: fรผnfundzwanzig (donโ€™t forget the umlaut on รผ).
  • “was magst du gerne?”
โžค โœ”๏ธ Grammatically great! Alternative more natural version: Was machst du gern? (What do you like to do?) or Was magst du? (What do you like?)

โœ… Pass

โš ๏ธ Section 2: Hobbies & Daily Activities

  • “ich spiele gerne kalvier, aber Ich spiele gerne nicht guitarre”
    โžค You’re close! Correction:
    • “Ich spiele gern Klavier, aber ich spiele nicht gern Gitarre.”
(“gerne” and “gern” are both okay, but “nicht gern” is the proper way to say you donโ€™t like doing something.)
  • “ich studiere sprache. Ich hore gerne musik”
โžค Great structure! Just spelling fixes:
    • Sprache is fine, but you might want to say Sprachen (languages, plural).
    • hรถre (needs umlaut on รถ): Ich hรถre gern Musik.
  • “ich wache auf sieben uhr”
โžค Very close! Add a preposition and fix time structure:
    • Ich wache um sieben Uhr auf.
  • “ich gehe um acht uhr zur schule”
    โžค โœ”๏ธ Perfect!

โš ๏ธ Almost Pass โ€” just watch word order & verb placement.

โœ… Section 3: Possessive Pronouns

  • “mein name ist Andy.” โœ”๏ธ
  • “er hobby ist lesen” โžค Slight fix:
    • Sein Hobby ist Lesen. (โ€œHis hobbyโ€ = sein Hobby; capitalize Lesen since it’s a noun.)
  • “ihr liebslingfarbe ist blau”
    โžค Very close! Correct spelling:
    • Ihre Lieblingsfarbe ist blau.
(“Lieblingsfarbe” = favorite color. Capitalize nouns!)

โœ… Pass (with minor spelling issues)

โœ… Section 4: Present Tense Verbs

  • spielen conjugation
    • ich spiele โœ”๏ธ
    • du spielst โœ”๏ธ
    • er spielt โœ”๏ธ
    • wir spielen โœ”๏ธ
    • ihr spielen โŒ โ†’ should be spielt
      โœ”๏ธ Correct version:
      • ihr spielt
  • “ich lese das buch”
    โœ”๏ธ Excellent!

โš ๏ธ Almost Pass due to small error on ihr spielt, but your grasp of verb conjugation is solid overall.

โœ… Section 5: Time & Date

  • “es ist drei uhr dreizig”
    โžค โœ”๏ธ Understandable! More natural:
    • Es ist halb vier (German counts time toward the next hour).
    • Literal version fixed: Es ist drei Uhr dreiรŸig (use รŸ or ss for sharp S).
  • “es ist mittwoch heute”
โžค โœ”๏ธ Good! Slightly more natural: Heute ist Mittwoch.
  • “mein geburtstag ist in juli”
    โžค Close! Fix article:
    • Mein Geburtstag ist im Juli.

โœ… Pass

๐Ÿ Final Verdict:

You’ve passed Bronze 2! ๐ŸŽ‰

You’re confidently using:

  • Possessive pronouns
  • Present tense
  • Likes/dislikes
  • Daily activity structure
  • Simple questions

Your spelling, word order, and verb placement are very close โ€” just needs some polishing, especially for compound verbs like aufwachen and details like im Juli or nicht gern.
