What Is Mistplay?
Mistplay is a play-to-earn beermoney app that pays you in Units for downloading and playing mobile games. You also earn Gems by spending money on in-game purchases. While it has improved from its early days, like reducing how often it stops tracking for inactivity, it still has significant downsides.
How It Works
- You earn Units by leveling up in games (max: 21 levels per game).
- XP earns you Units. Each game has a daily XP cap, and you’ll need to play different games daily to keep earning.
- Daily quests offer bonus Units, but most are low-paying.
- Boosted earnings apply to the first few hours after downloading a game, but this is mostly wasted due to the XP limit.
- Gems convert to Units, but the rebate is terrible (explained below).
Why I Don’t Like Mistplay (And You Might Not Either)
1. Very Low Payouts
Compared to other GPT or play-to-earn apps, Mistplay is one of the lowest-paying platforms. You earn slowly, and the reward-to-time ratio is poor. Some of the boosted game offers feel pointless because XP caps limit how much you can actually take advantage of the boost.
2. Heavy Push to Spend Money
You get “Gems” for spending money, 2 gems per $1 spent, and you need 100 gems to get 1,000 Units. That’s $50 spent to earn ~$2.89. Some quests also ask you to spend $3.99 for 600 Units (worth ~$1.74). That’s not a good tradeoff by any means.
3. Constant Need for New Games
Mistplay keeps pushing you to download and play new games daily. This leads to:
- Running out of new offers
- Losing access to those same games on better GPT platforms
- Wasted potential earnings
Once you’ve used up most of the Mistplay library, quests become repetitive or force you to download apps you’ve already completed elsewhere.
4. Weak Buddy System
The buddy system feels random and unreliable. You’re paired with someone and need to complete quests together, but if they stop participating, you’re stuck. You can “wave” at them (which just sends a ping), but it doesn’t help much.
5. Rigged Boosts & XP Caps
Boosts sound nice, but since you can only earn a set amount of XP per day, you lose most of the benefit of the time-limited boost. Once you hit the cap, you’re done for the day.
Daily Quests & Sweepstakes
- Quests reset daily and come in sets. Completing one unlocks the next.
- Quests often push you to download yet another game.
- Some quests ask you to spend money for a poor return, skip those.
- Weekly sweepstakes are available through quest entries, but the odds and rewards are not impressive.

Final Thoughts: Only Use As a Last Resort
I don’t recommend Mistplay unless:
- You’ve already completed the same game offers on other GPT platforms.
- You truly have no better play-to-earn options left.
Even then, Mistplay’s low payouts, pushy monetization model, and aggressive advertising show where their priorities lie. They spend heavily on ads and influencers rather than on user payouts. If they put even half of that into rewards, this could be a different story.
It’s known in the beermoney space that apps already pay users a fraction of what they earn from sponsors. But Mistplay is a standout example of low pay, aggressive monetization, and missed potential.
Before using it, I highly recommend reading my upcoming blog on [multi-level play-to-earn apps] to understand how to maximize your earnings elsewhere first. Mistplay should be your last resort, nothing more.
Mistplay FAQ – 2025 Edition
Is Mistplay worth it in 2025 or just a waste of time?
Honestly, I think it’s a waste of time. If you read my multi-level reward blog post (coming soon) about how these offers work, you’ll understand why. That said, if this app is your last resort, it might be worth using.
How much can you actually make with Mistplay per week?
You can probably earn around $20 in a week if you’re actively downloading and playing new games. However, this method has downsides:
- You’ll lose your XP boost quickly.
- You might run out of new games.
- You could get quests that require in-game purchases.
This is likely the fastest way to earn, but not the most sustainable.
Why am I not earning Units on Mistplay?
Common reasons include:
- Mistplay’s tracking system might have stopped.
- Most Units come from leveling up games, completing quests, and playing daily.
If these aren’t the issue, contact Mistplay support—they’re usually helpful.
Does Mistplay work on iPhone or only Android?
As of May 21, 2025, Mistplay is rolling out on iOS. It may not be available in every country yet, so you might need to wait a little longer if you don’t see it in the App Store.
What games on Mistplay give the most points fast?
It depends on your account. New users usually see high-earning games at the top of their “Games to Earn” section. These typically offer:
- Higher boosts
- Faster level-up rewards
Mistplay occasionally offers more high-earning games as you use the app.
How does Mistplay calculate Units and levels?
The exact formula isn’t public, but it’s likely based on how much sponsors are paying Mistplay. If a game gives a lot of Units, it’s probably because it’s backed by a generous sponsor. Keep in mind: Mistplay likely pockets a large portion of the sponsor money.
Is there a Mistplay hack or trick to earn more points?
Not really. The tracking system is strict and can be glitchy. However, there are some games where users have found ways to “cheese” the system slightly. I discuss those tips in the Mistplay tips section.
Why did Mistplay remove some of my Units or rewards?
Common reasons include:
- Tracking issues
- Suspicious activity on your account
- General bugs or app glitches
Most of the time, Mistplay support can help resolve these problems.
Mistplay vs. Rewarded Play – which is better for earning in 2025?
Rewarded Play is likely the better option. While I haven’t posted a full review yet, I’ve found that most apps offer better value than Mistplay.
How to cash out from Mistplay without hitting level 4?
You’ll need to focus on:
- Playing the most boosted games
- Prioritizing high Unit-earning titles
- Completing quests daily
You can often reach the minimum cashout threshold (PayPal has lowest conversion, might take longer) before hitting level 4.
